Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown Tag Team Elimination Match

At WWE Bragging Rights, a firm line will be drawn directly down the middle of the WWE Universe as the rosters of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown take up arms to determine the supreme brand in sports-entertainment.

In the explosive sequel to 2009’s breakout pay-per-view, The Miz leads Raw’s squad into battle with Team SmackDown, captained by Big Show – no 7-foot stranger to these circumstances.

Just one year ago, The World’s Largest Athlete orchestrated a betrayal of suitably immense proportions as a duplicitous Big Show turned on his Raw branded teammates to give the blue hued brand the inaugural WWE Bragging Rights victory.

Now, the Knucklehead star has a far more official role at the forefront of the Syfy franchise Superstars. But even larger than SmackDown’s captain is the objective of Team Raw, as they collectively prepare to avenge their emphatic defeat from the previous year. Each member prevailing in a series of qualifying matches, Mr. Money in the Bank finds himself flanked by formidable allies including Sheamus, John Morrison, R-Truth, Santino Marella, newly christened Raw Superstar CM Punk and a returning Ezekiel Jackson.

Behind Big Show is a skilled and diverse Team SmackDown, including Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, Alberto Del Rio, Edge, Tyler Reks, and Kofi Kingston, who all won their respective qualifying matches on the Oct. 15 edition of SmackDown.

For just the second time in history, a massive tag team brawl of 14 warriors will entitle only one brand to undisputed bragging rights. The encounter will be contested in an elimination style format, and will continue until all members of one team are taken out of the match.

On the Oct. 18 edition of Raw, just six days before WWE Bragging Rights, the blue brand scored a decisive victory over their red rivals in a SmackDown vs. Raw Battle Royal. While some might view that win on Raw’s home turf as a sign of things to come, it’s equally likely that the loss only strengthened Monday Night Raw’s resolve.

Will The World’s Largest Athlete once again be the pivotal piece to Team SmackDown’s success? Or will The Miz add yet another feat to his heavily decorated year, including winning the United States Championship and Money in the Bank briefcase?

The Celtic Warrior was on the losing end of a big Six-Man SmackDown vs. Raw Tag Team Match on Friday night.

October 22nd Friday Night SmackDown Coverage

The show opens with Team Raw and Team Smackdown on opposite sides. Teddy Long was in the ring with the Bragging Rights trophy and a microphone, detailing the match scheduled for Sunday. Long said that for the first time ever, he’s going to allow the superstars to make the matches tonight on Smackdown. He allowed The Miz to get the mic first who trash-talked Team Smackdown. He said he has already proved his superiority over Big Show, so tonight, he’ll be in six-man tag action, teaming with Ezekiel Jackson and Sheamus. Show had a mic and said Miz is hiding behind big men, just like he hid behind him when they were a tag team. Show asked Miz if he still wet the bed. Show countered with Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio as teammates to oppose the three-man Raw team.

Edge was next, and he said he wanted a one-on-one match. He called out the most sanctimonious superstar on either brand: C.M. Punk. John Morrison challenged someone who thought he was better than everyone, and who thinks he’s too good to be here. That would be Alberto Del Rio. Jack Swagger said it doesn’t leave a whole lot for him, so he’s choosing the Raw superstar whose finishing move is worse than the Sharpshooter which got the crowd to boo. He challenged Santino Marella. Long seemed to sign off on all the matches, and wanted to start the show with the six-man match.

Edge fought C.M. Punk to a no-contest
The crowd was hot for Edge the whole time. As he was about to spear Punk, Team Raw interfered and then Team Smackdown came out for the save. It ended up with everyone hitting their finishers on someone else. Edge was the last one, and he speared Punk and then posed with Team Smackdown.

October 18th Monday Night Raw Coverage

- DigitalsScreen Captures -

Teddy Long starts off RAW and he is here because he is taking over RAW tonight! GM email chimes right in and it says “get out of my ring”! Teddy says Bragging Rights is this Sunday, and he has a referee bring out the trophy, and says they will lay the smack down once again, just like last year. Teddy argues with Cole a bit and another email comes in, and Teddy says he will disconnect the RAW GM and closes the computer and takes it! Cole flips out while Teddy introduces his team and the Miz comes out and cuts them off, makes fun of them a bit, and says he will lead RAW to victory before bringing out his team.

Punk, Morrison, and Santino come out first, then Sheamus and the returning Ezekiel Jackson makes his way out as the newest member of Team RAW! Miz tells them to get out of the ring or they will make them, and they head to the ring and start brawling. They fight for a while before Team RAW retreats and Big Show says they will leave if Miz faces him one on one. Miz agrees and takes his team backstage.

October 18th Top 25: The Superstars Who Talked The Talk
Post Discussion: Add / View Comments? (1)
Post Categories: WWE.com. Published by Sabrina

Think talk is cheap? Try telling that to the 25 Superstars on this list. From an arrogant former reality TV star with an attitude problem to a wildly charismatic plumber’s son, these men have packed arenas and glued millions of fans to their television screens with their unique ability to inspire passion, fear, anger and laughter through their captivating interviews. Nearly every Superstar who has ever set foot in a WWE ring has spoken on the microphone, but these 25 men were the best at it.

#25: SHEAMUS

The first-ever Irish-born WWE Champion impressed many when he won that coveted title in his rookie year, but what’s even more remarkable about Sheamus is the confidence he has displayed behind the microphone so early in his career. Where many Superstars have spent years stuttering on the stick in hopes of finding their voice, The Celtic Warrior immediately grabbed the mic with confidence and ran down opponents in his unmistakable Dublin brogue. And while fans may jeer at the pointed threats Sheamus has directed at rivals like John Cena and Randy Orton, they can’t help but smile when he addresses them as “fella.”
