King of the Ring First Round — SHEAMUS vs. KOFI KINGSTON
Kofi hit the Trouble in Paradise Kick, but Sheamus rolled to the ropes to avoid being pinned. Kofi tried to follow up a short time later with a move off the top rope, but Sheamus caught him with a Brough Kick and scored the pin. Sheamus advances to finals and will face the winner of Morrison vs. Del Rio.
Winner: Sheamus
Backstage: Josh Matthews interviewed John Morrision and Sheamus simultaneously in front of the interview set. Sheamus said he made a mistake and Morrison capitalized on it they last time they met. He congratulated him and said it wouldn’t happen again in King of the Ring.
Sheamus pointed out that Morrision has already wrestled twice and his arm is hurt. Morrision said it’s all true, but none of it matters. He said the only thing that matters is that only one of them is going to walk out as King of the Ring. They had a staredown. A shot aired of the King of the Ring throne.
King of the Ring Finals — SHEAMUS vs. JOHN MORRISON
Sheamus took control of the match and they cut to break a little over a minute into the match. Sheamus continued to dominate the match after the break. Cole said the winner would become the 19th King of the Ring.
Morrison sold the arm as he made a brief comeback. Punk took the serious approach while saying that Morrison throwing punches while standing on the second rope was a bad idea because of the arm injury. Sheamus regained control of the match quickly. Cole said Sheamus couldn’t get frustrated and had to stay focussed.
Sheamus went for the High Cross, but Morrison slipped out and went for a backslide. Sheamus avoided the move, but at an elbow in the corner. Morrison came back with a tornado DDT and went for the pin, but Sheamus reached up and put his hands on the ropes.
Late in the match, Morrison caught Sheamus with a kick and went for Starship Pain, but Sheamus avoided it. Sheamus nailed Morrison with the Brough Kick and followed up with the High Cross to get the clean pin. Cole quickly put over the heart that Morrison showed during the match. After the match, Sheamus sat on the throne and spoke about Ireland briefly before concluding with “Long live the King”
