He’s the current WWE King of the Ring and the newly crowned U.S. Champion, but Irish-born WWE superstar Sheamus continues to be a man on a mission.
His next goal? Sheamus is hell-bent on stealing the show at Wrestlemania 27, the WWE’s annual flagship pay-per-view event that takes place this Sunday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta at 7 p.m.
Despite an all-star line-up that includes the ring return of the legendary WWE grappler The Rock – now a movie star known by his given name, Dwayne Johnson – a marquee match-up pitting long-time stalwarts Triple H and the Undertaker, and the wrestling debut ofJersey Shore fixture Snooki, Sheamus maintains that he’s got exactly what it takes to grab the post-Wrestlemania headlines with a thrilling win over his opponent, fan favorite Daniel Bryan.
“I want people walking away from Wrestlemania talking about our match,” Sheamus, 33, told the Irish Voice on Monday from Chicago, just a few hours before the live broadcast of the WWE’s weekly Monday Night Raw program on the USA Network.
“I’m representing Ireland again, I’m the champion of the United States of America and there are going to be some great matches, but I’m going to give everything I have to steal the show at Wrestlemania. I’m an Irishman who came up from a small little country, followed his dream and now I hold the title.”
Dublin native Sheamus has had an up and down WWE year since Wrestlemania 2010, where he lost a tough match to the iconic Triple H. But the Celtic Warrior, as Sheamus is known, exacted revenge a few weeks later at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event, where he devastated his opponent to such an extent that Triple H was out of action for 10 months, only recently returning to the WWE lineup.
Putting the smackdown on the boss’s son-in-law – Triple H is married to WWE owner Vince McMahon’s only daughter, Stephanie – might not be the best career path to follow, but the only thing Sheamus is sorry about is that Triple H is back in the ring.
“I knew that to beat Triple H at Wrestlemania was going to be the icing on the cake for one of the best rookie years that ever happened in WWE history,” Sheamus said.
“That was taken away from me, but at Extreme Rules I put him on the shelf . . . It was definitely a nice way to put him out. I was hoping he’d be gone for good, but unfortunately he came back a couple of weeks ago.” Continue reading »

Bryan out, but waits outside the ring. Video of Sheamus kicking Bryan in the head last week. JoMo out to join him, no slo-mo this time. In a battle of brute force vs. technical tenacity, reigning United States Champion Sheamus defends his title against former titleholder Daniel Bryan at The Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania.
Finding himself in a months-long slump following his King of the Ring victory in 2010, an irate Celtic Warrior clinched the U.S. Title in an explosive bout with Bryan on the March 14 edition of Raw. Putting it all on the line, The Celtic Warrior vowed to quit WWE if he lost the match. With a devastating Brogue Kick, Sheamus became the new U.S. Champion, a distinction held by such legendary ring warriors as Bret “Hit Man” Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Dusty Rhodes, Michael “P.S.” Hayes and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.
His fighting spirit bruised but hardly broken by his defeat at Sheamus’ hand (or, more specifically, his boot), Bryan was quick to remind the Irish-born U.S. Champion that America is the land of opportunity, and chose to invoke his rematch clause on The Grandest Stage of Them All in what would be his first WrestleMania match.
With his imposing 6-foot-6 frame, Sheamus enters this bout with a clear size advantage, and his hard-hitting offense has already earned him two WWE Championships in his relatively short in-ring career. However, Bryan’s incredible arsenal of submission maneuvers and precision strikes – honed by a decade of dominance on the indie grappling circuit – makes him a threat to any opponent, big or small.
Will Daniel Bryan secure his second United States Championship with his dreaded LeBell Lock? Or will The Celtic Warrior once again assert his dominance against the submission specialist? To find out, tune in to WrestleMania, April 3, only on pay-per-view.
Sheamus is in the ring with his new strap in hand. Evan out to face him, huge smile on his face. Cole talks about Tweeting what he can’t say on RAW. He’s Tweeting right now.
They lock up and Evan slammed down. Kicks to Sheamus, but then Evan into a corner, then slammed to the mat with a clothesline. Stomps on Evan, then forearms over Evan’s shoulder to his chest through the ropes. Sheamus stomps on Evan’s hand. Evan whipped, but moves. A kick to Sheamus’ face. Evan climbs and flies with his SSP, but Sheamus moves. Brogue kick to Evan and Sheamus pins for three.
Winner – Sheamus
Sheamus says he’s now our new Champion of the United States of America. Bryan’s music hits and he comes stomping out in ring gear and a Bryan shirt. SHEAMUS
This Week: 10 – Movement: ▲ – Last Week: NR
After suffering through an embarrassing losing streak, Sheamus came back strong this week by winning the United States Championship and beating Kofi Kingston.
Raw’s United States Champion, Sheamus, walks down the ring as his music plays throughout the arena. He has the title around his waist. After he is in the ring, the Intercontinental Champion, Kofi Kingston, comes out with the title around his shoulder. The crowd cheers and claps as he is the fan favorite for this match, no doubt!
The bell rings and they quickly lock-up. Sheamus takes Kofi down first and work on his arm. He does an arm lock and an arm bar, but Kofi twists out of it. He goes to whip Sheamus, but Sheamus reverses it. Kofi slides out of the corner, jumps on Sheamus, who is in the corner, and does some punches to the head, but he drops Kofi down, face first, onto the turnbuckle. Sheamus is back on top as he goes for a pin, but gets a two. He then does a neckbreaker, another cover, but only a two! He now works on the back and neck of Kofi. The crowd is cheering Kofi on and he gets to his feet. He gets out of the head lock, runs into the ropes, but Sheamus turns sideways and does a huge elbow to Kofi and it knocks him down instantly. He continues to work on Kofi’s neck. He goes for a neckbreaker, but Kofi falls down and does a school boy. It’s only a two. Kofi now gets on the top rope, flies and does a great cross body, but Sheamus rolls through and has him up on his shoulder. Kofi slides out and now punches Sheamus in the head and chest. He rus into the ropes, goes behind Sheamus and does a side russian leg sweep. Kofi is on fire now as he hits the “Boom, Boom” leg drop. Kofi gets in the corner and wants to finish the match, but Sheamus rolls to the apron. Kofi goes after him, but Sheamus chokes him on the ropes. Sheamus gets back in, but Kofi hits the S.O.S and covers, but he grabs the ropes.
Sheamus goes outside, but Kofi jumps on the steps, and goes right on Sheamus. Sheamus crawls over the steps as Kofi goes after him, but Sheamus kicks the steps and it hits right in the knee of Kofi. He brings Kofi it and hits his famous pump kick and he gets the win!

A bloody mouth Sheamus holds up his title as he is victorious. All three announcer’s are shown and they take a look back two weeks ago when Kane attacked the Corre members to save Big Show, but attacks Show at the end. Then they show last week as Big Show helps Kane, but attacks Kane at the end.
