Santino’s music. He comes out all by himself. Josh is at announce now, taking over for King and JR. Cole says he has athlete’s foot, it just proves he’s an athlete. Sheamus out, mic in hand. He tells Santino that the last time they were in England, Santino embarrassed him. This might be the last chance Sheamus has because of the Draft. So tonight, the Champion of The United States of America is going to embarrass Santino.
They lock up. Knee to Santino’s gut, then stomps Santino. Santino face first into a corner. Santino up on Sheamus’ shoulder, but wiggles free. Santino drops down, but takes a kick to the back of Santino’s head. Santino over sells his wobbly knees. Sheamus clotheslines Santino, then locks a chin/arm hold on Santino. Santino tries to start fighting back. Santino up to his feet, then slammed back to the mat. Elbow drops on Santino. A third elbow drop and Sheamus pins for two.
Again Sheamus locks on his submission hold as Cole taunts JR and King, as Josh rips on Cole’s feet. They both get laughing so hard they can’t announce. Santino slammed back on the mat, hold still on Santino. Santino back to his feet. Then rolls Sheamus off his back. Clothesline to Santino in a corner. Santino again whipped, but moves this time and Sheamus eats the corner. Santino sets up the cobra, or tries and stumbles. Brogue kick to Santino for three.
United States Championship Match – Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Cole says Sheamus is in red, white and blue because of his title. Josh talks about the Lumber Jack Match breaking down and ending up a Battle Royal last night.
They lock up. Hammer lock on Sheamus, but he backs Bryan into a corner. Sheamus flings Bryan, then nails Bryan with a double axe handle for two. Short arm clothesline to Bryan, then Sheamus showboats. Sheamus stomps Bryan, then whips Bryan into a corner. Sheamus hits his forearms to Bryan through the ropes as Cole verbally preens and talks himself up. Knee to Bryan through the ropes. Into the ring a chinlock on Bryan. “Daniel Bryan” chants. Bryan rolls Sheamus through, but Sheamus back with a huge Irish curse backbreaker on Bryan for two. Back on Bryan with the chin and arm hold. Bryan to his feet and punches free. Bryan ducks Sheamus and kicks at his chest a couple times. Clotheslines to Sheamus, then Sheamus reverses the whip, but eats both of Bryan’s feet. Big clothesline to Sheamus for two. Bryan reverses out of Sheamus’ move and tries to lock on the LaBell lock, but Sheamus muscles out with a back breaker. Big boot to Bryan for three.
Winner - Sheamus
Sheamus takes his strap and poses, arms high. Sheamus back on Bryan with a knee, then stomps on Bryan in a corner. But then new music! It’s Sin Cara! He comes out to the stage, removes his coat then looks at Sheamus. Sin Cara points and runs. His position on the stage is perfect in that behind him is his blue wings in lights on the back of the stage. As Sin Cara rolls into the ring, over the top rope, his pyro hits! Slingshot hurricanrana, then drop kick sends Sheamus flying from the ring. Sheamus on the apron, gets a kick to the head. Sin Cara up on the top rope, then flies out onto Sheamus in a most beautiful way! Sheamus is left leaning on the rink skirt, eyes wide in shock as Sin Cara is already back up on the stage! It was all so amazingly fast!
Did Sheamus say he wanted to steal the show one time too many? Very sad to hear that one of the matches I was most anticipating on the undercard – Daniel Bryan’s WrestleMania debut against Sheamus – was moved to the undercard. I say we all call to ask for a partial refund because WWE couldn’t figure out how much they had time for before advertising the completely line-up. Seriously. You’ll get at least five bucks back if you claim you’re Irish or Daniel Bryan’s number one fan…
LUMBERJACK MATCH
I don’t have a full list but the lumberjacks include William Regal, Chavo Guerrero, Primo, R-Truth and Chris Masters. Daniel Bryan, the challenger, comes out first followed by the WWE United States Champion Sheamus.
Bryan starts out in control, throwing Sheamus over to the lumberjacks but Sheamus is able to get back to the ring. Teddy Long comes out. He said because of outside lumberjack involvement to the match, the bout will now be an over-the-top battle royal. All performers are in the ring working.
